About ORO

“I think that the age-old classic symbol of balance, the yin and yang, good against evil, light on the opposite side of darkness, and so on has a lot of meaning in storytelling and also in life. It is something that is fundamental in how we navigate and survive in the world. Abominations already touched on that subject and were blurring the line of where a character can settle on that spectrum. With this book, ORO, I wanted to explore that notion in a character or monsters. Will an inherently good character have an evil side to it? Is a character that is pure of heart a weakness in a world of brutality or is a ruthless destroyer actually a creator of something positive? Oro is a place of violence, greed, love, hate, heroism, and betrayal but most of all the chaotic balance and nature of the duality of that what lies underneath the surface.”Björn Hurri on ORO

About ABOMINATIONS

Björn Hurri’s Abominations features 224 pages of.. abominations! That is an excellent description and title! Call them what you like, we can pretend these creatures are merely designs, sketches, ideas, and illustrations, but the truth is, they are nightmares on paper!

From the crowdfunding campaign:

A book packed with creations from one of the most inventive minds in the gaming industry. If you are thinking about any of the games you have played from the past decade, Björn probably had a part in it. This book is only a fraction of what he has created in the past! No matter if you are a designer yourself, a gamer or a consumer, Abominations is a worthy addition to your collection!

The book is printed on 150g Munken arctic paper (well, if you don’t know anything about paper, it means “nice heavy paper” )

About the Sketch.Box collection

This is the third volume of our new Sketch.Box collection, an unprecedented and exclusive project that Caurette and Spiridon Giannakis set up together, working with artists to create a collection of sketch books. Each individual book will showcase the talents of one amazing illustrator. This is a rare opportunity and one that we are extremely pleased to collaborate on! Each book will bring joy to art collectors and connoisseurs.

Our third artist to be featured in the successful Sketch.Box series is Swedish award winning concept artist and art director, Björn Hurri He is skilled in rendering the fantastic images lurking in his extraordinary imagination (to know what we mean, check out Björn Hurri’s previous books, Oro and Abominations!). The benefit of a sketch is its immediacy and nearness to the viewer, and Björn’s character sketches each have a quality of closeness, some even appear to loom! Other anatomy sketches reveal a sensitivity and gentleness that evoke vulnerability and intimacy.
